Yeah, and since you invited me, I'll do a banner for ya announcing the occasion.  Just tell me what size do you want it to be in, and any ideas on what you want to have in it.

An Idea I have.

Total number of visits to Disneyland California:  Over 5,000,000,000

Total number of visits to Disney Echo: Over 1,000,000

Total number of visits Michael Eisner made to his pharmacist:  248.

Then Johnny pops up and flips the number to 249.

And then the DisneyEcho logo :)

Posted by: RichKoster on Jan. 29, 2004, 7:03 pm

Yoo Hoo, David!

I love your ideas! The only thing I ask is not to make it wider than 638 pixels (less than that in width is fine also, and any height you desire).

Thanks! :)

 Sure thing :)

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

As of today, < Alexa.com > shows us with a 3 month change up 2,047,660 in the number of multiple page views per person coming to the Disney Echo and emuck.com. And that doesn't count viewing the same page again by each person -- just the number of different pages viewed!

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

I'd like to thank Disney EchoEar < Ray Jones > for creating the Gadget cartoon found on the Disney Echo Welcome page as well as below:

Of course, The Walt Disney Company retains all copyrights to the character of Gadget, but Ray came up with the idea, the layout, the background, and the design of what Gadget is doing in this cartoon. He graciously allowed me to add shading to it as well as to animate Gadget jumping up and down in celebration of the Disney Echo attracting so many EchoEars.

You know, it suddenly strikes me that Mickey's ears are similar in shape to the famous McDonald's "golden arches"... maybe we should have a pair of "golden ears" and say "Over 1 million served!" LOL Just joking. ;)

But seriously, do these figures make the Echo the most popular Disney place to hang out on?

Posted by: RichKoster on Mar. 08, 2004, 1:48 pm

Yoo Hoo, Chris!

Not golden, but how about these dark red ears that DisneyWidower created for us?

I'm not going to compare it to other specific forums, but the Disney Echo is the most popular in my Mouse House! :)

Let's see...the Echo is about to celebrate its 14th birthday  :birthdaycake:   ...in January, the Echo reached One Million...and now, seven short months later, it has hit One and a Half Million...so in seven months' time, the Echo has had a third of its overall traffic within its 14-year history...

I'm no mathematician, but DH is, and his quick estimate is that, if the Echo continues with this same progression pattern, we'll be celebrating the 2,000,000 mark in 17.5 days!

MAN has this place exploded!  Hearty and well-deserved congratulations, Rich, on the blossoming of your vision!  And THANK YOU for this very happy and very special place for all of us to share in.  It is truly a blessing, in many ways.  HOORAYYYY!   :clapping:

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

I just noticed the Disney Echo hit counter now shows over 2 1/4 million... 2,273856 to be exact, at the time I write this. (Scroll down and take a look at the numbers in the black box near the bottom of this page to see the latest amount.)

And today the Disney Echo welcomed our newest Disney EchoEar, who very appropriately chose the log-in name of < disney >! Her real name is Kajal and she is the 1110th registered Disney EchoEar on the new version of our software (on the older, non-updated version if the software we reached 2,765 registered Disney EchoEars in the Vault: Disney Echo before it became unusable).

Currently the forums of the Disney Echo have a total of 26,891 messages, with 24,351 replies to 2,540 topics. Over in the Vault: Disney Echo there was only a total of 13,901 posts (10,932 replies to 2969 topics) before we had to shut down that older software.

Sure are a lot of Disney fans here talkin' a lot about Disney stuff!

Congratulations, EchoEars! :grouphug:

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

It must have been sometime around Hurricane Katrina or Rita that we went over the 2 1/2 million mark on the Disney Echo, and I didn't notice (being a bit preoccupied by those category 5 storms...)

But I've just changed our headline at the top of the forum pages, as well as this topic, from over 2 1/4 million to over 2 1/2 million.

Looking at the counter found at the bottom of this page, I see that the Disney Echo has now been visited over 2,600,000 times by Disney fans. And still going strong!

Once again, thanks to Disney EchoEar Ray Jones for creating this picture of Gadget celebrating this Disney Echo milestone!

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

Back on Sep. 22, 2004 we were listed at 1,166,221 -- but I just checked the web information figures presented by Alexa and Amazon.com at  < Alexa.com > which shows the Disney Echo's "average traffic rank" is now 792,021!

We're in good company! Other Disney websites have these average traffic rank:
  • Allearsnet.com: no data (what's up with that?)
  • WebDisney.com: 1,214,720 (down trend)
  • Disneyland.com: 429,222
  • Magictrips.com: 428,741
  • DisneyWorld.com: 409,477 (down trend)
  • DisneyCentral.com: 293,830 (down trend)
  • HiddenMickeys.org: 162,286 (down trend)
  • Intercot.com: 123,312 (down trend)
  • TheDibb.co.uk: 63,963
  • JimHillMedia.com: 45,678
  • MiceAge.com: 42,951
  • WDWMagic.com: 36,166 (down trend)
  • LaughingPlace.com: 35,165
  • MousePlanet.com is 10,547
  • and Disney.com taken as a whole is 25 (down trend)

Also, they show our 3 month change climbing 1,370,744 and the reach up 425%!!!

And last month we reached over 3 3/4 million! :clapping:

< Alexa.com > currently lists the Disney Echo with a top-ranked 5 star rating, a traffic rank up 369,398 over the last 3 months, and unique page views up 200% compared to three months ago!
:clapping:

What does that mean? Alexa.com explains...
Quote
Alexa's traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users over a rolling 3 month period. A site's ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews. Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview.

And Alexa.com doesn't even count people using the AOL/Netscape and Opera browsers, so our "pageviews" is probably even higher.

< Write your review of the Disney Echo > and help spread the word!
:ear:

Using the < Alexa toolbar > also helps!

I was able to fix the problem on the < Disney Echo welcome page > where the picture was covering up some words if your browser didn't have a wide screen. Also, I found how to change the font of the hit counter to be much larger, and colored it green to match the lettering in the rest of the picture.

You know, it is great that we continue to get a high number of "hits."

But even better, the Disney Echo has not lost the "cozy neighborhood bar" type of feeling it has, with EchoEars coming together to share their feelings about Disney things -- and even other things they're thinking about -- in a friendly way, without "flame wars" with people "flaming" others like on some other Disney forums. That's just one of the things that's different about members of the the Disney Echo, creating an atmosphere similar to that "Cheers" TV show "where everybody knows your name" and treat all others with respect, even when at times we disagree with each other -- but EchoEars are great in the way they still manage to keep discussions at an adult level rather than resorting to childish name-calling.

A huge tip of the mouse-eared hat to all EchoEars who post new topics and replies, sharing the Disney fun, and making the Disney Echo the great place it is!

I just clicked on the flame link and as far as I know or can remember, I've never been flamed. That is pretty good! I know I can be annoying at times and people may want to flame me. ha

Carol and I were both flamed in a big way many years ago on Usenet's rec.arts.disney discussion group for being "too Disney" -- if you can believe that (around here, I don't even think anyone believes it is possible to be "too Disney") -- in how we were writing in such detail about how much fun a Disneyana convention we had been to was. Yup, we were flamed on a Disney discussion group for writing enthusiastically in a trip report! That hurtful flaming incident probably was the "one little spark" which led to the concept we brought to the Disney Echo of "post more like Mickey and less like how Donald Duck is when he's angry."

The Wikipedia article is right: You'll know it if you are truly flamed.

I'm so thankful to all the like-minded EchoEars that we don't have flame wars here.
