First

Before posting youtube on the Echo you need to remember that the Echo is a family friendly Web site.  Not everything on youtube would fit within the guidelines of the Echo even in an off-topic area.

Second

My advise would be to only post videos you have taken yourself as a way of sharing your personal experience.  If it's something you simply found on youtube just share the location and the reader can decide to go there or not.

Of course Rich has the final say in embedding videos and can change the above guidelines as he sees fit.

How to embed your personal Videos on the Echo using youtube.

1. you must register at you tube.  In order to upload your videos you must have your own account.

2. Log in to youtube then at the top you'll see
Hello, (username)   (0) | My Account | History  | Help | Log Out | Site:

Click My Account.

3. From the My account screen

you will see on the left side   MY VIDEOS

Click the Tab - Upload Video

4. This page has several things you must input.

Title
Description
Tags

(you must put something in these fields.)

Next you'll see
Broadcast options - You must leave it public to share on the Echo
Date and Map - This matters not

******most important******

Sharing Options - open this up and change from the defaults.
    1. Don't allow comments (unless you want to read a bunch of juvenile and rude comments from the general utube public

    2. Don't allow video Responses - Every kid with a web cam will comment on your video

    3. I turn of ratings.  I don't care what others think of my video I put it there to share with the echo.  I already know it's low quality.

    4. You MUST leave the option for your video to be embedded

Click upload Video.

This next page has a browse button.  Click it and find the video you want to upload.  It must fit the restrictions of youtube. Your video is limited to 10 minutes and 100 MB.

After you choose your video click upload video.

You will see a blue bar tracking your progress.  After it reaches 100% a box will appear below that has the code to embed your video.  Copy it and then paste it into your message here on the echo.

That's it.

Did you shoot the video with a camera or on mini-movie mode with a digital camera? Does it matter which you use? I am going to save this info for my next trip!

I used the mini movie mode with my digital camera.  It's an 8 mega pixal so i can take a decent little movie If I bump it up.

That's good to know. I would rather carry a digital camera around than our video camera.
