TV Kirby mentioned the Disney biographical documentary "Walt & El Grupo" but that film is part of an entire evening of vintage Disney programming on TCM Turner Classic Movies on Sunday, March 15, 2015.

Disney and TCM last fall 2014 announced a new partnership.  TCM will assist with some updating of Great Movie Ride at Disney Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, and TCM will air about 4-6 times a year several hours of "Wonderful World of Disney"-hosted by Walt-type old shows, vintage movies from Walt's era, classic live action and / or animated feature films and more, with commentary from film critic and historian Leonard Maltin and from people from Disney Studios Archives.

The last such telecast was in mid-December 2014 and was classy, interesting, and a big hit with TCM and vintage Disney fans.

The next "Treasures from the Disney Vault" programming block last 9.5 hours on Sunday night, March 15, 2015 on cable-satellite channel TCM.

You need to be a cable or satellite subscriber not only to view the shows but also to stream online, particularly if your provider carries TCM.  If you've cut the cord and cut the dish, watching might be hard but maybe there's a way.  Check their website at TCM.com and give it a try.  There is a TCM App for computers and mobile smart devices, but you might still need to have a cable or satellite provider for it to work... inquire of the App and the website for more info.

At the link look in "Treasures from the Disney Vault" section of March 15, 2015 programming.  There is a toggle menu bar in the upper right hand corner for what time zone you live in, so toggle if you live in US Eastern, Central, Mountain or Pacific.

Be sure to tell your DVR or TiVo about the programming, in case you get busy or are away from home.

Yes, many of these are indeed on DVD or Blu-Ray already.  However, some people might not want to haul their stuff out or dust their player off and fire it up.  And to get the commentary from the experts is nice.  And also to see these on a national TV network, especially a network that reveres and studies "the classics" in film is very special.  If you've cut the cord to cable and cut the dish, haul your DVDs or Blu-Ray's out and have a movie night with the family.  Check the TCM program listings and find the relevant ones... Or buy them online somewhere to add to your video library.

Back in December 2014 the whole inaugural evening of telecasts was very well-done and classy.  Back in Walt's day there were outlooks on various people that, today, we'd consider " racist ".  The commentators on the show are careful to provide that disclaimer "these cartoons, shows, films are 'products of their era'" to keep people in perspective.

Maybe not "about theme parks" all the time, but future evenings of "Treasures from the Disney Vault" could focus on many items of vintage Disney interest, including Disneyland.  Since Disney Echo, though dormant, is about all kinds of interests in Disney, not just the theme parks, we hope our members and guests peeking in will program their DVRs or TiVos or tune in.

The last marathon of programming was mid-December, this one is mid-March....  As of the date I post this ( Friday March 13, 2015 ) the full monthly schedule for May 2015 isn't posted yet at TCM.com but no Disney programing between after March 15 through mid-May.  It would air on a Sunday evening prime time into wee hours of the following Monday morning.  Just keep checking for May and then again for June 2015 for "Treasures from the Disney Vault" in the listings.

Here's the link, remember that Time Zone toggle in the upper right hand corner, and to program your DVR or TiVo.  Enjoy!

All times are Eastern, the line up for the March 15, 2015 “Treasures from the Disney Vault” shows on Turner Classic Movies, but be aware there can be commentary and set discussions about these films and shows, so probably best to over program, before and after the stated show, to catch those, or program the whole block as a block.

8 PM Darby O’Gill and the Little People 1955
9:45 PM Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color : I Captured the King of the Leprechauns
10:45 PM Babes in the Woods 1932
11 PM Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color : The Story of the Animated Drawing 1955
12 AM The Three Caballeros 1944
1:30 AM Walt & El Grupo 2008

I do have an Existing Topic about the TCM-Disney partnership, refer to that for info as well.
