I guess Disney and Tim Burton can't keep rereleasing "The Nightmare Before Christmas" or relying on reissuing logoed merchandise based on that long-ago movie forever. In some ways having "Nightmare" around means Halloween is around, since the rereleases have tended to be in September-October.
So here comes "Frankenweenie", a stop-motion animated family film from Tim Burton for Disney, October 5, 2012. New movie in similar genre to "Nightmare", maybe we can look forward to new "Frankenweenie" edgy merchandise, and Disney including "Frankenweenie" decorations when it annually redresses Haunted Mansion at Disneyland to look like "The Nightmare Before Christmas", etc. The black and white is homage to past horror flicks such as "Frankenstein". And released for families to go see in October to usher in the Halloween Trick-or-Treat season later in the same month.
I missed posting about the first trailer Disney released for this...but here's the brand new second trailer.
I've picked Ain't It Cool News.com, but the trailer is available anywhere that shows movie trailers. Comments there can be crude and rude and filled with expletives, just so you know in advance. The trailer itself is G-rated but parents may want to look at it first before showing it to very young children.
Here's the official Disney movie promotion website, just keep in mind when it gets closer to October 5, 2012 (Opening Day) this website will be more fully featured, so check back then.
Is Tim Burton wearing thin on movie audiences? Or is this something to look forward to? Would you or your children be interested in this? Your thoughts? Feel free to "Reply".
