DigiTimes reports that Taiwanese manufacture is set to deliver a CDMA version of iPhone 4, which would be compatible with Verizon's network in the United States, to Apple in the fourth quarter of this year.

Actually, Verizon or Sprint... or BOTH!

Okay, EchoEars... Are you interested in getting an Apple iPhone 4 that runs on the Verizon & Sprint networks instead of just AT&T? Reply!

The Moscone Center Calendar has a “Corporate Event” scheduled from June 28, 2010 through July 2, 2010 in the Moscone West Hall. Well it might all be a coincidence but Apple has used the same title to book previous events at the Moscone Center... Could this be for an Apple announcement that iPhone 4 will also be on other carriers besides AT&T? http://nexus404.com/Blog/2009/12/21/apple-sets-date-for-wwdc-2010-next-gen-iphone-to-be-announced-from-june-28-july-2/

June 28th... just 4 days after iPhone 4 goes on sale... that gives AT&T 4 days of exclusively having iPhone 4 without news of it also being on other cell phone carriers, if the rumor is true...

And if true, no wonder AT&T is "generously" offering to so many iPhone users that they can commit to a new two-year contract now (to get iPhone 4) early!

And China still uses CDMA, too.

"China Unicom runs both a GSM and CDMA network and China Telecom expects 100 million users on its CDMA network in the next 2 years."

Interesting comment on MacRumors.com... take it for what it's worth (which is nothing, since it can't be proven)...

Although I don't see the point in the 4th Gen iPhone being released with Verizon with the impending change to 4G (LTE) I just wanted to share that I was driving in midtown Manhattan on Monday when I noticed someone in the back seat of a car next to me who had 4 iPhone 4s in holders stuck to the side window with the goose necks bent down so that nobody on that side of the car could see them from outside. I let down my window and spoke to the driver of the car and said "4 iPhone 4s, that's a lot." The driver looked rather shocked and said "We're testing them" To which I said "Who for?" He didn't appear to know what to say and looked over his shoulder at the person in the back who was glaring at him. He didn't say anything else and hurridly made a right to get out of traffic. As the car turned right I saw a glimpse of the screen of the laptop that the person in the back who was looking at the iPhone 4s had on his lap. I saw what appeared to be a Verizon logo, and noted that the car had Pennsylvania plates as it sped back towards the entrance of the Lincoln Tunnel from 9th Avenue. I just got home and did a google search and I think I saw that the Verizon Wireless headquarters are outside Pittsburgh, PA.

Might be totally made up... but it makes a good story, though!

If an iPhone 4 prototype was worth $5,000 to Gizmodo, how much will they pay for a Verizon-compatible iPhone 4?

Verizon iPhone to Launch in January 2011 -Bloomberg

Article

This rumor is like a bad sci-fi movie: It lives!

Verizon Wireless Said to Start Offering IPhone in January

2010-06-29 18:52:44.849 GMT

By Amy Thomson

June 29 (Bloomberg) -- Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S.
mobile-phone company, will start selling Apple Inc.’s iPhone next year, ending AT&T Inc.’s exclusive hold on the smartphone in the U.S., two people familiar with the plans said.

The device will be available to customers in January, according to the people, who declined to be named because the information isn’t public. Brenda Raney, a spokeswoman for Verizon Wireless, did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman, and Peter Thonis, a Verizon Communications Inc. spokesman, declined to comment.

Barclays is so confident in the likelihood of an iPhone on Verizon that they are now including it in their financial models.
