They've officially changed their name! The National Fantasy Fan Club (NFFC) is now Disneyana Fan Club (DFC)
Read all about it.

It’s Official: We Have a New Name!

During the October 3, 2009 NFFC Board of Directors meeting, President Gary Schaengold announced that the California Secretary of State's office had approved the Certificate of Amendment changing our corporate name from National Fantasy Fan Club, Inc. to Disneyana Fan Club, Inc.

The next step in the process is to register the old and new names, as well as NFFC and DFC, with the Clerk of Court for Orange County, California. “As we look to the future in marketing who we are and what we do, it remains important to respect the heritage of our past,” Schaengold said. “By retaining ownership of the old name, and for now including it in association with our new name, we retain fond memories and build on our new experiences at the same time.”

With the trade name registration process nearly completed, we have begun the process of rolling out the new name. In about a year’s time the Board, working together with our chapters and interested members, will complete the transition from NFFC to the Disneyana Fan Club.

During the transition, NFFC will be known as NFFC–Disneyana Fan Club, a change you may have already noticed in the Dispatch masthead.

Time for a bump up and an invitation.

What had been the National Fantasy Fan Club, The Club for Disneyana Enthusiasts changed their name some time ago to be shorter and more understandable:  The Disneyana Fan Club.

Basically this is a long-standing fan club of sorts for all things Disney, particularly the collecting and appreciation of any kind of Disney memorabilia.

Face it, if you'e a Disney fan, you're gonna buy something of "Disney" at somewhere, some time, in your life, and among those items are those with special sentimental or Disney-historic value to you, such that you take care of it, display it, proudly show it to others, and feel you can't part with it or sell it.  Or maybe if it's old enough you might be curious what value it might have on the pop memorabilia market or Disney collector's market.  Maybe you grew up with Walt Disney on TV on ABC on Sunday evenings, or you've been visiting the parks since time (for you) began and you've collected great stuff along the span of years.  Maybe you use Disney in all of your decorating, each room, patio, porches, gardens, all over the kitchen and in the cabinets there, and your annual Christmas tree is near totally Disney as are your Christmas decorations.  Maybe a significant percentage of the clothes you wear are "Disney"-related.  Your pets even have pet possessions that are Disney in some way.  You have had a Disney wedding in either Orlando or Anaheim or your reception reflected "Disney".  You can't imagine vacationing other than Disney parks, their Cruise Line, or Disney Vacation Club or Adventures by Disney.  You are "so there for midnight shows on the day of wide-release for major Disney blockbuster movies, and you like that the crowds at the theater at midnight are such huge Disney fans, too, and all gathered in one place, fun to be with like-minded in person. You like Disney, it's what gives you something fun to think about as respite instead of the day-to-day chores or job or obligations.  You've joined a lot of fan website sites or have a lot of Disney newsfeeds on Facebook and Twitter, but you'd kinda like to actually be with other Disney fans in person in a way that merely being at the parks doesn't quite satisfy for you, and added to that you like the idea of D23 (Disney's own fan organization) but find it expensive and their meet-ups expensive and inconvenient to attend.

If any of that describes you, then consider joining the former NFFC, now named the Disneyana Fan Club.

Link is here...  At the link just scroll down and down, read up, click all tabs and links.

There are also local chapters all over the US and in Japan, Australia and British Columbia, Canada.

They have two conventions per year, one in mid-January, the other in mid-July coinciding with Disneyland's opening day anniversary of July 17.  Both occur when schools have extended holidays (Martin Luther King Federal holiday, and summer vacation).  And you'll find dues are cheaper than D23.

You might note that California has numerous chapters, but the other states might only have one, or no chapters.

The Disneyana Fan Club has a kit to teach you how to found your own chapter.     Network around.  Surely there are other Disney fans and collectors in your own town or region who'd love to make new friends who like Disney as much as you do.

Or elect to join a state's chapter and subscribe to their newsletters.  There's a Chapter near Disneyland, and one near WDW.  If you think you can arrange a vacation to coincide with a Chapter meeting in those places, there ya go, literally!

My husband Rich and I were members of a New Orleans chapter for several years, and it was a lot of fun to be with local like-minded Disney fans and even travel with them to Orlando and Disneyland for collectors' events.   It's one thing to bang on computer keyboard to blogs and fan websites, and a more fun different thing to be meeting in the same place with fellow fans: Wearing Disney clothes, showing off photos from a trip, displaying cool souvenirs or collectibles and describing their origins, exchanging information or news or answering each others' questions.... face to face.  And then meeting again, and again, going to Disney movies as a group then going out afterwards to have fellowship.

All I can say:  Just give the club a good look-see, consider joining at the national level.  If there's a chapter near you, check it out as a guest to a meeting or two if it's convenient, then consider joining.  If the D23 events are at inconvenient times of year, and financially expensive for you, consider booking a trip to one of the Disneyana Fan Club gatherings instead.

  :pixiedust:
