Hi Mike!

I have been away for a few days, and didn't see this until today, so I hope it isn't too late!

We have taken this cruise, in fact it was with the debut of Wishes!  I "kidnapped" DH with the surprise and we loved it!  You can request decorations to celebrate the birthday of your child (we had anniversary decorations) and can order up other extras (soda, champagne, cake, etc) if you so desire.  We had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, served by a CM (we had 2 - one to drive, one to serve).  I chose to be picked up at the GF as we were at Narcoosees for dinner.  We went out past the WL  (slowly) and were in place to see Wishes about 5 minutes prior.  I didn't find the smoke to be heavy at all and the music could be heard (although not loudly) from the boat.  I found it to be very magical and special.

Enjoy!! :birthdaycake:

Yes they do charge extra for the birthday cruise (which is what we did once for my birthday but there was no max amount of people you needed to have even with the birthday cruise, just a bigger price.

Aloha

Steve

Thanks for the responses everyone. We are really getting excited!

One more thing, we currently have a GV room. If I want to upgrade to a LV with a Non-smoking room facing the MK, should I do that now or at check in? Also, would Tahiti be a good choice for this type of room?

Thanks

Lagoon View rooms are very limited so I would suggest changing your reservation now. Tahiti is a good location for a lagoon view room but so are the other two longhouses with lagoon views. It all depends on where you want to be located. All of them are non-smoking except the upper floor of Tuvalu and the east half of the second floor of Tahiti.

Hmmm,

I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway, because I'm hoping the answer is different from what I think.

In the summer is wishes at 10pm or is it every earlier?

I will be at the Poly 7/31 - 8/7. My birthday just happens to fall in that time...  I'd love to do a fireworks boat with my family...but 10pm is probably too late to keep my kids out, even too late for them at the Neverland club.

It's a shame - last year there was a bit of a mix up at the BCV on my B-Day and Hubby and kids felt bad.  I didn't mind but I felt bad for them (hubby and kids) they had wanted to surprise me and it didn't work out.

Maybe I should direct Hubby to the kind folks at IPO!!!

**Pirates** I bet your daughter will LOVE it.  Please let us know how it goes.

There may be hope for me yet
Tammy

GRAND GATHERINGS EXPERIENCES

Magical Gatherings of eight or more guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can enrich their vacation with any of four "Grand Gatherings" experiences. Included are an International Storybook Dinner at Epcot, Good Morning Gatherings at Tony's Town Square Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom, Safari Celebration Dinner at Disney's Animal Kingdom and Magical Fireworks Voyage outside the Magic Kingdom.

We also did the Illuminations cruise last summer.  I was lucky enough to find some kind folks (who are now friends) to share with.  It was great and a wonderful experience.  Although I didn't see Wishes that way, I would bet it's great too.  The cost for the Illuminations cruise was $120 + tip I think and we all split the cost and tipped on our own.  The Birthday cruise is more because of the decorations, cake, soft drinks, etc., but I think it will be a once in a lifetime thing that will be remembered forever.  Have fun!

We stayed in the Tahiti building years ago (11 or 12) and had a wonderful view.  It's close to the Ticket and Transportation center and the ferry as well.  It's a bit of a walk to the Grand Ceremonial Building, but the grounds are so pretty and the walk is nice. :)
