Hi  Lisa--we will be at the Polynesian 8/7-8/14 also.  We have stayed at the Polynesian many times and also at the old Dixi Landings.  The check in at the Polynesian has always been pretty quick.  Even if there was a long line you or your dh could walk around the great ceremonial house with the kids.  They will love it.  We are in the Hawaii building this year, but have stayed in others and been happy.  The only building we didn't like was Tahiti, although other people love it.  It is kind of far from the GCH, and the pools.  If you haven't already, take a look at the maps and longhouses on Tikiman's website.  You can at least get an idea of where the longhouses are.  You will be so glad that you decided on the Polynesian.  It's definately worth the $.  Maybe we will run into you at the pool!  By the way, my second favorite longhouse is Tokelau,Hawaii is my favorite.

I don't think that there is a bad room in the Polynesian.  I have stayed in Tokelu (not sure of sp sorry) and Tahiti.  Tokelu is where we stayed about a month ago after requesting Tahiti and not getting it.  I was 100% more happy with our room in Tokelu than in Tahiti!  So if you don't get your request try not to be too bummed out, you will get a good room and if not just ask if you can change rooms I'm sure if it's not booked completely they will be happy to change your room. But I'm sure that you will be happy with anything!

Thanks guys for your input.  I printed out a map of the resort so I have an idea of where we may want to be.  My other choice was the Tokelau longhouse.  I actually started to think I should ask for that one because it is a bit closer to the GCH, yet not too close.  We would rather have quite.  I don't want a pool view where we hear people into the long hours of the night.

I am very excited to go.  That is so cool that you (TINY) will be there at the same time.  But just don't show me your room..I may cry.  I was seriously considering upgrading to a lagoon view.  After looking at tons of pics online and reading the posts here...I am sold.  The problem is that DH will not go for it.  GRRRRRR!  I was hoping that I would get an upgrade or a garden view with a partial lagoon view.  I just don't want a parking lot view!

I will have to keep you all posted as to what room I actually do get.

Does it matter that I also asked for a non-smoking room?  I hope that does not limit me as per my choice of buildings.  The Rapa Nui building would be fine, but I would have to be facing the Tahiti and Tokalau Longhouses.  I do not want the other side.  I do have some flexibility, but I don't want to get stuck with a rotten view...plus we really wanted the balcony so I would need a building that offers balconies.

Lisa

Hey Lisa and Eileen!  I will be staying at the Polynesian with my family 8/7-8/18 as well.....  This is also my first time there, and I can't wait.  I have asked for GV in Samoa, Fiji, or Tahiti in that order.  I have heard that if you give them three or so choices you will likely get one.  I am also hoping to get a patio or balcony.

Good luck to you both, and I hope we all get what we want.  I'm sure we will have fun in any case.

Hello all!!

My family will be celebrating a 10th wedding anniversary at the Polynesian in August.  This is the first time we have stayed there, so we are very excited.

I was just wondering how the check-in process works.  Do you park your own car or is there valet?  Should we park before checking in?  How is luggage handled?  Are you on your own to get to your room or is there an escort?

FYI... We are staying non-concierge.

I would appreciate any info....  :help:

Thanks!!

Hi Tim

You are going to love the Polynesian (and every other time you'll stay)!  You can park on your own or have the valet do it for you. Valet parking is 6.00 a day, I think.  Go inside and get checked in and receive your leis.  Upon your return outside a CM will go with you to your automobile and load all your luggage, the kiddies and you on a golf cart and escort you to your room.  You will get a ride around tour if you ask for it, to see the grounds.  They will take your luggage to your room for you.  I know you'll enjoy your trip.  Happy 10th Anniversary!!  We are headed to the Polynesian on July 17th for a 7 day stay to celebrate our 25th anniversary!!

Best Wishes on yor MAGICAL ANNIVERSARY VACATION!! :minnie:

Hey Lisa! One other thing, we didn't pay for a lagoon veiw and got a corner room in Tokealu and ended up with a lagonn veiw.  So there are some Garden Veiw Rooms with partial lagoon veiws. (Hope that makes sense)

Yoo Hoo, Tim / iam4braves!

I am sure you're going to have a very magical and romantic 10th anniversary at the Polynesian Resort! Make sure that special occasion is in the remarks section of your reservation (you can call Disney Reservations -- toll-free number listed in the Disney Echo's Disney Dining & Priority Seating message forum -- or your travel agent to make sure. Also have that noted on any Priority Seating you have for restaurants as well as letting the CMs know when you check into the Polynesian as well as at each of the restaurants you go to.
:pixiedust:

I hope you like the countdown clock I've added to your Disney Echo signature as well as these Disney EchoEars, Tim. Thanks for joining the fun here. Aloha!

Thanks Rich... I must "echo" something that I read on here from Tikiman.
Although I have only been reading this a short time, I am very impressed with how polite and helpful everyone here is.

Thanks for all of the help.
