In honor of Happiest Celebration, I've got a question for all of you! This year, we're celebrating the 50th anniversary of not only Disneyland the theme park but also "Disneyland" the television series! We've had a lot of chances to visit the Disney parks via our TV sets over the years; a lot of folks have said that seeing Disneyland on TV inspired them to visit the parks for real, or even inspired them to work in the theme park industry! With that in mind, here's my question:

Of all the Disney theme park moments you've seen on TV over the years, what's been your favorite and why?

C'mon, don't be shy - we'd all love to hear from you!

Hello again, everybody!

We're down to the final days before the start of The Happiest Celebration on Earth - is everybody excited? I know I can't wait to get to the Disney parks to be a part of it. So much to see, so much to do, so much to buy! ;)  Until I can get down to Disneyland to take it all in, I'm going to be looking for just about anything on the start of the festivities on TV and everywhere else in the media.

Fortunately of me (and for all of us), there's going to be plenty of opportunities to see the parks on TV. There's going to be a lot of coverage of the kickoff of The Happiest Celebration on Earth; several TV programs this week are going to broadcast segments about the Park.  All next week, Regis and Kelly will spend the week at both of the U.S. Magic Kingdoms. Throw in a couple of weeks of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" from Orlando, a few shows from the Travel Channel and a couple of programs on other cable networks featuring at least a segment on the Disney parks, and we've got a lot of good stuff to choose from in the next couple of weeks!  Here's what's coming up.  (As always, all times are PDT and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted.  Shows new to the listings are noted by an asterisk{*} after the description.)

+++

Thursday, May 12, 7:00 a.m.:

"Disneyland Resort: Behind The Scenes."

Explore the world-famous California theme park and its California-themed sister park and have a look at rides and shows such as the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Indiana Jones Adventure, Soarin' Over California, and Aladdin: A Musical
Spectacular. Gain access to places seldom seen by the public, including Walt Disney's private apartment and a secret club in New Orleans Square.

+++

C. Shows Taking Place At Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

+++

Monday, May 2, 8:00 a.m., The Learning Channel:

A Perfect Proposal - "Joe and Angela."

A surprise trip to Walt Disney World and a cruise aboard the
Disney Magic are part of the plan leading to a marriage proposal.

+++

Monday, May 9 - Friday, May 13, syndicated (check local listings for time and station in your area):

"Live With Regis and Kelly."

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa take part in The Happiest Celebration on Earth by hosting shows from Disneyland  (May 11 and 12) and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom (May 9, 10, and 13).

+++

Monday, May 16 - Friday, June 10 (ending date unconfirmed), syndicated (check local listings for time and channel):

"Who Wants To Be A Millionaire."

In honor of the Happiest Celebration on Earth, Meredith Viera hosts a series of shows from the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Play It!" soundstage at the Disney-MGM Studios. The programs include "Walk In and Win Week", where visitors to the theme park play "Millionaire" for a chance at a million dollars.

+++++

All right, everyone, that's going to do it for me this time. But in honor of Happiest Celebration, I've got a question for all of you! This year, we're celebrating the 50th anniversary of not only Disneyland the theme park but also "Disneyland" the television series! While I'm waiting to hear from you, I hope you have a good week. Until next time, take care, everyone!

What a neat question, Paul! And I get the honor as birthday boy of being the first to answer your question. :)

My favorite theme park moment on Disney TV shows is the Disneyland episode which included the girl I had my first crush on: Annette Funicello. The episode was entitled "Disneyland After Dark" and Annette sung and dance on stage in Tomorrowland. Even better, it is included in the Disneyland DVD I have!

This was tough, Paul! You asked for the very favorite one -- and I have so many favorites!

I like the Disneyland after Dark one too, Rich.... my other favorite is the one with the Osmond Brothers and Kurt Russell when the HAUNTED MANSION opened.... (not just because as a 14 year old Ihad a crush on any of those guys, yeah right)  but I loved the behind the scenes of the attraction... to this day I am not afraid of HAUNTED MANSION because of that show!   :ghostface:

My favorite moment is also in Disneyland After Dark, but happens to be the entire Louis Armstrong segment on the Mark Twain.

(Second favorite moment is the Osmonds going through the Haunted Mansion, of course).

- Sorry I have been away from the forum so long. I was laid off at the end of January. I got a new position at the beginning of March but I have been busier than ever before with this new position.
