"Frozen" is Disney's animated film opening Thanksgiving Day 2013 (November 2013), based on Hans Christian Anderson's "The Snow Queen".  If you liked "The Little Mermaid" which also was an Anderson fairytale, you might like "Frozen".

Anyway, if you want to eagerly see a new trailer and be among the first, record or stay up all night and watch, of all things, The Weather Channel, on wee hours of Tuesday June 17 at 3 am Eastern and 2 am Central.  Yes.  Middle of the night.  On the Weather Channel.  Summertime.  "Frozen".  The new trailer premieres then, there, that's it.

Or you can surf around online after that at a date-time you care about.  Or see "Frozen" trailer, I bet, in front of "Monsters University" when that Disney-Pixar film opens June 21.

Why "Frozen" and not "The Snow Queen"?  Yes Disney possibly is introducing a new Princess to their group for girls to like, buy merchandise of, dine with in theme parks, dress up like, etc.  But Disney wants to appeal to boys, too, who run the other way if things get too ultra-girly-feminine.  So like "Tangled" they hide the fact it's a "princess movie", even though Rapunzel was the original title of the fairytale and it's Rapunzel and her hair the girls come to see at the parks.  So too we have "Frozen" to disguise a Snow Queen is in there somewhere, frosty white and shining in the sun ice crystals and snowflakes on clothing-glitter on toys in the merchandising….  and maybe the boys in the family will go see the male lead in it and tolerate the "princess" aspects of it.

Happy watching or speed-cuing through the Weather Channel for that trailer premiere!

This is NOT the trailer but some leaked stills in a YouTube feature dated early May 2013.  Judge with an open mind, however, once the real trailer hits Weather Channel and online and in front, I suspect, of Monsters U. on Friday.  This feature at the link takes awhile to load up, so be patient.  It may, or may not be "Tangled With Snow"…. so reserve judgement 'til the real movie opens this Thanksgiving.

IMHO / YMMV (In my humble opinion, your mileage may vary ) :

I think in this new teaser trailer that is now "world premiered" Disney might need an optometrist and a new pair of glasses or contact lenses, because it sure can't see itself very well.  If this is part of what we can expect in "Frozen", then I concur it's a "Thanksgiving movie" because it looks like a "movie turkey".   Read Comments following the video movie clip…  There's fan backlash already and only "some" support.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRDc8Ou-_zw&feature=youtu.be

Derivative of "Ice Age" movies by Fox and the "Bambi" ice skating scene, at least IMHO.  I have major disappointment in this scene…  Look at any of the classic Disney animated movies we revere to see true class and true original ideas and true animated scenes, acting and story, on display.

John Lasseter is head of Disney Feature Animation, Pixar and Imagineering.  He's had a lot on his plate : Revamp Fantasyland at WDW, build Shanghai Disneyland, revamp California Adventure, and crank out the Pixar movies.  People liked "Tangled" and "Wreck It Ralph"….  But judging solely by this scene in "Frozen" this is just Saturday morning cartoon-type basic slapstick, nothing special, nothing that elevates it to the former stellar reputation Walt Disney and his animators achieved when they were alive and professionally active.  And Disney honestly expects to show this in front of "Monsters University" this week in theaters, at D23 Expo and maybe even Comic Con in San Diego next month..… really????

Not ready for prime time, Mr. Lasseter !

This movie needs you, Mr. Lasseter,  to "channel" (through a spiritual medium get in touch with) the late Walt Disney's spirit and do whatever his spirit tells you to do to improve this movie, short of pulling this from movie theaters, might be too late for that extreme (but it's what Walt might have done) and tweak this scene or the whole movie while you can before Thanksgiving… And tweak the marketing before putting the trailer in front of "Monsters University" this weekend, before showing this teaser at D23 Expo and before showing it at Comic Con in San Diego.  Bad impressions are dominating in the Comments at the link, Mr. Lasseter, and online bad impressions travel fast.  What would Walt do?  He'd nix this scene earlier on, in the storyboard stage.  A lot of work in the trash, but better 'way back then than spending millions to go through with animating it, music score, sound effects added, putting it in a trailer that shows all over the place mostly virally, etc.

In the "leaked early still frames" You Tube video some of the still frames of "Frozen" of the princess look good, like ice crystals can cast rainbows…. That sounds very lovely and magical to see animated.  But this new trailer will make the otherwise nice seeming movie look like a turkey.  And once again, Disney, you sometimes don't get a second chance to make a good impression….  You don't want a "Frozen" turkey, you want a "Fresh" (as in Rotten Tomatoes scores) magical money-making movie.  Gobble gobble gobble….

Ugh… That trailer….

But, there's hope…

1.  Movie now opens Dec. 6, not Thanksgiving.  No more "turkey" associated with it, so that's good news….

2.  At this link is the same trailer.  But there are four officially released stills from the movie.  There is hope !  The stills look alright.

"Tangled" meets "ice Age" ?  What think you ?

Newest trailer.  What do you think?

http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs....66.html

I'm thinking it's "Tangled II: Too Cold".  Very derivative of "Tangled".  Gorgeous animation, but then the characters open their mouths and "No thanks…" ensues from at least one Disney fan out there (me ) .  What ruins it is the too contemporary and cliche ridden dialogue.  For this one, I'm afraid I can't see past that very easily.  But the animation is gorgeous as you'd expect from Disney Feature Animation now headed by executives from Pixar.

I'll keep an open mind, however.

And I guess it DOES open around US Thanksgiving holiday season, the last week of November 2013.

Early reviews are being posted at Rotten Tomatoes.com and the consensus is good news for Disney :  91% Fresh !  More reviews will be posted, and of course that rating might go up or down.

Wow!  "Frozen" is FABULOUS!  So is the charming update of a classic Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse cartoon short "Get a Horse!" with Walt Disney's own voice for Mickey Mouse!  And so is seeing both of these in 3-D.  Yes, 3-D costs extra, isn't it just as good in 2-D (and cheaper ) ?  The entire movie is so superb, even though based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen ("The Little Mermaid") think more "Beauty and the Beast".... Disney Broadway musical caliber crowd pleaser superb animation family movies are BACK !  If you remember the carry-the-audience-away type musicals "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty & the Beast" were then welcome "Frozen" into your heart and DVD cabinet when the time comes.

The animation is fabulous.  The trailers are misleading, and I apologize to Disney Feature Animation for being turned off by them, but frankly I was turned off by them.  The scenes in the trailers are NOT in the movie and the reindeer and snowman characters are both much better than portrayed in those trailers.  And the animation is fabulous!

Any positive reviews are correct!

It is a feminine princess movie.  And a buddy movie like "Tangled" was.  It's a Broadway musical, like Disney used to make its films to be and probably grooming their animation now to be future Broadway musicals.  It's a romantic comedy and a hero-quest movie.  It will remind you most of "Beauty & the Beast" with a dash of the gargoyle characters in "Hunchback of Notre Dame", a dash of "Tangled" and a nod visually towards the ships in "Pirates of the Caribbean".  Although Hans Christian Anderson wrote the original children's story, it's very reminiscent of "Beauty and the Beast" while standing completely on it's own.

The cartoon short is true to the original vintage "Get a Horse" made in Walt's early era, but takes it to new twists.  In 3-D the humor does come out more and the visuals are hilarious and sweet.

Major thumbs up!

Hollywood writer Nikki Finke, formerly of Deadline Hollywood, with deep inside-studio sources in the movie business world, says the combination of both the sequel to "The Hunger Games" and Disney's "Frozen" will set box office records for a Thanksgiving opening.

Big head's up tip:  A theater worker tonight told us "Frozen" has been selling out theaters EARLY every showing there is, both in 2-D and 3-D.  We left home to attend the 2-D 4:45 PM showing, at the time we left it wasn't sold out.  We arrived 35-minutes ahead of show time and it WAS sold out!  We attended instead the next showing which was in 3-D at 5:20 PM, theater nearly full.

So know before you go:  Leave home much earlier than you'd normally think is necessary and get to your theater EARLY to buy tickets.  Either that or buy tickets for a desired specific showing time online ahead of time and STILL get to the theater early... People at our showing at 5:20 PM literally were lining up at 4:30 PM for it, 50-minutes ahead of show time!

Little kids LOVED the movie, laughing and silent in all the right appropriate places.  For a change a well-behaved audience among the adults, and the kids.  No one left or walked out early, not even to escort a little one to calm down outside or to the restroom, no kicking of my back seat from kids behind me, no "Mommy what are they doing now???"  A pleasure to be in that audience this evening, very positive movie-going experience.

So go see "Frozen", arrive early and enjoy "Get a Horse", and see these in 3-D it's worth it!!!!

Disney movie fans, this is news this morning from Nikki Finke, formerly of Deadline Hollywood, with big and excellent movie box office news for Disney Feature Animation, she Tweets: "Nikki Finke ‏@NikkiFinke 7:50 AM PST
SUNDAY Box Office: Disney 'Frozen' biggest Thanksgiving wide opening and overall total ever (tops 'Toy Story 2' and 'Harry Potter/SS' ) ."  Finke is a Hollywood journalist with deep info sources within the movie industry. :fireworks:  :fireworks:  :fireworks:  :fireworks:

Thanks, Big Goofy Guy, good to know the positive word of mouth, thanks for posting it!

Nikki Finke, Hollywood reporter, Tweets "Frozen" in it's second weekend in theaters will be #1 in US box office.

Meanwhile late last week Disney's Oscar-related marketing released a clip of a show-stopper song in the movie "Let It Go".  The clip is everywhere online.

At this link in the Comments not everyone is smitten, but a lot of people DO like it.  Even some pleading "bring this to Broadway!"

What do you think, are the music-songs in "Frozen" worthy of Oscar nomination and winning a statuette(s)?  How about a nomination and winning for Best Animated Film?  Are Disney Feature Animation, and the Disney animated musical, "back", or is there room for a lot of improvement?
