Welcome to the Disney Postcards message forum!

This is the place to discuss and share what we know about Disney postcards from Disney theme parks and resorts all over the world, from the earliest postcards to today's postcards.

I'm pleased to announce that Brian Martsolf / bigbrian-nc.com has joined us to help co-modEARate this forum. Brian is the webmaster of the Walt Disney World: A History in Postcards website and he's chosen the Disney Echo as its official discussion forum.

He also recommends that for a world of Disney p°o°stcard collectors go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/disneypostcards.

I am looking forward to watching this forum.  I collect postcards from Disney World.  I have found many postcards at yard sales and flea markets through the years and have a pretty good collection.

I'll be watching.....

Nice to see there are some folks already on this board who collect WDW cards Charline. Have you got any questions about any of the cards you have picked up over the years? Even if I don't know, I might be able to find out the answer, and if I can't find the answer it still might make me consider other things I want to look for when I find cards too.

Welcome Brian.... I picked up a couple of cards this trip I really liked... The one of the mousears hat, and the one of the Castle at the MK.... both will make nice additions to my small collection.  My favorite is one my CM friend sent me when she went to the CM preview of AK..... it shows the Carnotaur facing off to Mickey and says COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION.... (which it hasn't been for many years now)....

Hi, Marsha I like that one too, though it came out in two versions, first a simple art card and also a Lenticular (or flasher) card of the same art where on first viewing the carnotaurus is much smaller than he appears when you lift the card up and change the angle, so it is like the carnotaurus is jumping out at Mickey.
I see that you moderate the All Star resorts forum. I have three "free with check-in" type post cards from the All Stars first the sports one which is the basic all star logo- the star- with a sports trophy and banner that reads sports on it at the center of the card, this star sits on a circle that bears the words "ALL-STAR RESORT" at the top of the card, and the logo is surrounded by art of basketballs a tennis ball and court, a wind surfer and waves, a baseball batter taking a swing and reffereees stripes on the far left hand edge, the predominant background color of the art is blue. The other two three "free with check-in" type post cards from the All Stars resorts that I have are the later collage type  with multiple photo scenes from the hotels, each printed in a different color tint, one is pre-movies and has the resorts logo in the center, after movies opened they re worked the same card simply replacing three of the images with ones from the new resort and no logo. I actually got both on my year 2000 trip one of the older type (pre-movies) cards was in the back of a drawer in my room (which was in movies). I also have one regular continental (4 x 6) card which was likely sold in the gift shops of the resorts, the five photos on it are all from All-Star sports. Do you know of any other cards ever produced for this resort?

Hi guys, just joined the group...I'm Kevin from New Jersey and have been collecting WDW cards for about a year or so now. Our collection is growing fast and getting out of control! I mostly concentrate of Disneyworld, so always have extra Disneyland and other Disney for sale or trade.
I'll be adding my dups on my site as time allows (only have a few up now). Thanks, Kevin...www.postcardguy.com

Well they've stopped distributing them at this point, The last one I got was in 2000, so they may have even stopped a few years ago, I'm thinking that even then it was something that was in the drawer in your room (As I mentioned the one trip I got two different designs one was shoved way int the back of a drawer), so many folks pehaps overlook them after all there are plenty of pieces of paped in those rooms with different information on them. Also even when they were distibuting from time to time thay may simply have ran out, especially when switching from one desingn to another.
