Ya got 2 more lovers of the HDD right here in Miami Beach! This is one of our very favorite places to enjoy dinner and a show! This is absolutely not to be missed, and, any time I cook barbecue or fried chicken I set the table singing that darned song and waving my dishtowel! hehehehehe...pretty soon DH is gonna have me committed and DD's eyes won't be able to stop rolling! Mom's a little nuts, huh?
Yup!
LOL

As we will be traveling to Disney with are 2-year old daughter in November, I was wondering if anyone here has ever taken a child that young to see Hoop-Dee-Do?  I've always wanted to see it, but would hate to waste the money if she couldn't sit through it.  I know it's different with each child's attention span, but since she loves music and loves to dance I was thinking she might do ok.

On average = how long does the dinner show last?

Any feedback is appreciated!  Thanks!

When we went many years ago, our youngest DD was about 5 years old.  There were many other families with children even younger and from what I could tell, they seemed to enjoy it.  I want to say the dinner was all totaled around 90 minutes with the actual show about 30 -45 min of that, but I could be wrong (won't be the first time either LOL )  The show is lively and fast paced and there is so much going on your daughter may enjoy it.

Grand total of about two hours long.  There is music and singing and dancing and eating galore.  You are served drinks, there's a show, the salad bucket arrives, more show, the chicken and all the rest comes, more show, there is a special performance when dessert arrives, and the finale is going to really involve your daughter's attention!  My son used to be a patron of the arts of Short Attention Span Theatre and although we didn't see Hoop when he was two, he would have approved of it at that age.  If anything, the concern would be the opposite:  Too much stimulation.  So everyone be well-rested as much as possible, take plenty of time to reach the venue without being rushed about it, the earlier the start time of the dinner show the better.  If your daughter needs to toddle as kids that age do (gotta keep moving! ) , be aware if you are on the ground floor of the theatre the performers do come into the audience frequently and the wait staff is everywhere, so just be aware for her safety.  The show and the meal both progress along at a good clip, so just see how it goes.  She'll enjoy the finale, I think/hope. ;)

Wow, this has never been in our budget, so I told myself that it was not worth it.  But after hearing all of this, I am going to have to force it in to our next budget.  Why did I have to look at this topic.  With the 7 of us this is going to cost us a fortune, especially since next trip 2 kids will be adult price and the younger 3 will all be paying.  No freebies next time.:(

:)  For anybody out there that hasn't been to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, you're missing out on a great, hokey show.  The jokes have been around for a long time, but they are still funny (because of the delivery), the music is great, and the food is fantastic, who can't resist a BBQ type meal anyhoo??  We've been seven times, and will be seeing it our eighth in Oct of 2005, and have enjoyed it each time, the show hasn't changed, like the one at the Polynesian (once they found a good thing why change it!;).  The last time we were there, in March of 2002, my daughters had one of the dancers sit on his lap, and I had the honor to be the Ghost of Davy Crockett at the end of the show!  It was a blast!!  If you really get into the show, by clapping and yelling, I think you have a better chance of getting "picked" for some of there "parts".  It is an expensive night, but well worth every dime spent!!!!  Go and enjoy.

Was wondering if anyone knew if you could take pictures at the HDDR show? Also another dumb question , do they allow you to take your left-overs or do they just throw it out? Thanks

Do you mean the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue? Yes, you can take as many pictures and videos as you'd like. If they make an announcement about the best time to take flash photos, please respect the request, but from what I remember you can snap away anytime.

I also think there would be no problem in taking out leftovers, and you might want to bring some zip-lock bags to make it less messy.
