Hello friends. We can't wait to get back home , in WDW and Fort Wilderness. We will arive on thurseday night. Friday we will decorate the camp site, pick up the golf cart, and shop for small gifts at Downtown Disney to place under  our Christmas tree. Friday night we may ride the resort monorail and visit the lobby of each hotel and check out their special Christmas trees and decorations. Saturday we will spend the day at Animal Kingdom, getting a fastpass for Expedition Everest as soon as we get in the gate! Saturday night we have reservations for the Hoop-dee-do review. Now thats a great day, first a run-in with the Yeti, then the big ho-down at the Fort. On Christmas Eve, we will spend the day at Epcot. I will try and get the CP dinner package, we want to see the show at 5:00, and have dinner at the Rose and Crown Pub at 7:30. Here is where it may get very very special. Our daughter's boyfriend will be with us. He recently asked me if he can marry her and he showed me the ring.Yes, he wants to propose to her at WDW. I suggested he do it at dinner on Christmas Eve just as Illuminations is beginning, while we are on the patio of the Rose and Crown Pub. He loved that idea, he wants it to be a moment that she will never forget. If anyone has any ideas for making this special please let me know. This may sound crazy but I was wondering, can we get Cinderella and Prince Charming to come to us, the prince hands him the ring, and Cinderella hands her some roses and they witness the proposal? How do you arrange something like that? Finally, on Christmas Day, we will enter the Magic Kingdom at 7:00 am, I think I read here that it opened at 7 last year and they had the snow flurries on Mainstreet USA. We have reservations for lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern at 11:00. So there you have it, our plans for a magical Christmas weekend. Oh yea, we still have the rest of the week to plan for more great times!   :santa:

Just read your delightful post, Benton.  Can I go?!? :D
How special that your daughter will receive her proposal there...and as for the question re:Cinderella and the Prince playing a role, I bet it can be arranged somehow.  Someone here on the Echo will let you know how.
Have a "magical" Christmas trip..and please report back to us with the details.  We love living on each other's trips til it's our turn!

I would suggest calling the Wedding/Special Events department at Disney Grand Floridian to ask about the possibility of Cinderella and Prince Charming assisting in your event.  I warn you, it will be pricey, if its even possible.

What an exciting trip you have planned!!! Enjoy!

I can tell you from personal experience that this is a great idea.

I proposed to my wife back in 1998 over a Winnie-the-Pooh Character Breakfast (she's a big fan).

I had hoped that Pooh would give her the ring, but they have some sort of rule about the characters not handling valuable personal items.  But what I did was to call the restaurant (Artist's Pointe at WL) and spoke to the restaurant Manager.

When we got there for breakfast, I volunteered to "wait for our table" as Onnie and my girlfriend walked around the hotel for a bit, taking some pictures.

I went up to the hostess and told her who I was and that I had spoken to the manager about it, and while she hadn't been briefed, there were some people who were aware of it, so I gave them the ring and after we had been seated at the table for awhile, all of the characters at the breakfast showed up at our table together.

Obviously a little confused, my wife was just looking around and wondering what was going on, when our waitress came out with a big covered serving tray and laid it right in front of her telling her that they had prepared a special breakfast just for her.

I came around to her side, got down on one knee, took the lid off and the ring box was already open.  She freaked out (positively, of course).

She tells me that today, she still doesn't remember what happend for about twenty minutes.

Our waitress announced what had just happened and we got a round of cheers and applause from the whole place, and they even comp'd our breakfast.

Shortly before we left, a little boy came over from a nearby table and told my wife "con-gwa-tu-wa-shuns".

I doubt he'd be looking to do the same thing, but the restaurants can be very accomodating.

Official Disney Press Release

A Surprise Course -- a glass slipper sets the stage for after-dinner marriage proposals...

A sparkling glass slipper sets the stage for after-dinner marriage proposals at Cinderella's Royal Table at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. As the main feature of the Magic Kingdom restaurant's engagement package, the bride-to-be is presented with a silver platter holding the slipper. It cradles the groom's engagement ring.

And this special chocolate dessert can add to the special night!

Benton, my DH proposed to me in Cinderella's Castle at "Cinderella's Royal Table." It was absolutely wonderful! When we were done with our meal, our waiter, (CM) came back with a platter of rose pedals, a glass slipper and the engagement ring inside the slipper. If you want any other information or details, you can PM me. It was incredibly magical! :hearts:  :tinkflying:  :hearts:

Disney is certainly a special place to get engaged.  My DH proposed to me in front of the fountains in France in World Showcase.  Then he followed up with champagne that we bought while still in France.

I think it would be fun to get engaged in the MK while Wishes is going on.  Or at the Contemporary Grill with Wishes going on.  Or at the beach at the Polynesian with Wishes going on.  Do you notice a trend here?!?  I think Wishes is very special.

There are so many great ways to get engaged in WDW! My DH picked a wonderful choice! I guess what could be a bad choice?
