What's next for Disney to cash in on?

A Magical Disney Divorce?

Disney puts the FUN in FUNerals?

That's hilarious, Rich!! I could just see the Disney characters walking around greeting people at the funeral visitation, posing for pictures, etc....yikes!

We need a marriage license here in GA and you need one in Florida but they aren't saying they will marry gay and lesbian couples, they are saying that these couples can now use the Disney Fairytale Weddings office and ceremony spaces to plan and host a commitment ceremony.  To me it is not an issue of Disney condoning gay marriage or not (though I, personally, have no problem with it), it's an issue of if you have $8,000+ to spend on a ceremony celebrating your relationship be it a wedding, a vow renewal or a commitment ceremony, then we will allow you to have that ceremony on our property.  They've always allowed these ceremony's to take place, they just couldn't use the Fairy Tale Weddings office or spaces like the wedding pavillion, sunset point or the gazebo at the Boardwalk and they couldn't do things like rent Cinderella's coach.  They have always been able to rent a suite or ballroom and use private dining or convention services to host a ceremony and reception.

Cheryl, I do totally agree that there are far more important issues in our world today than the issue of who can marry who.

Thanks, Lori, for putting things in perspective...
And, as Carol always says, our "mileage" varies..
On with the show!!

It seems DIsney will do anything for money. I'm really thinking this short trip next month may be the last for a long time. I was looking through some old disney things of ours and found the bill to the POlly the first time we stayed there It was $120 a night summer months. Now I don't think you can  get a valuee for that price in that time period. Anywho thanks Lori for the info.

The only way Disney gets away with charging what they do is because people pay it.  When people don't show up they give discounts to AP holders, give away free dining, lower prices.  Will Disney do anything for Money.  Yes to a point.  Of corse they weigh desicions in the hope that their money making decision won't hurt them in the long run, but yes they are a business that needs to make money.  They have a huge employee base that wants and needs raises every year.  and the durable goods that are used at the company has prices that go up all the time.

Keep in mind that you also used to pull over off the Highway and get a good room for under $30 bucks, now we are all thrilled for a $60 buck price tag at the Holliday Inn.

You'r doing what us consumers are supposed to do.  If you feel you are no longer receiving equal value for the price it is time to stay elsewhere.  When enough people do this prices come back down.  But, for what Disney offers for the price I would not expect to see prices come down for a long time.  A good example is the cruise line.  It's the most expencive "normal" cruise out there and they are building 2 more ships because they stay full.
