Disney gala shows off upcoming movies
...Jim Carrey, starring in his first Disney film, a 3-D motion capture remake of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," summed up the chaos of his performance, in which he plays seven characters including Ebenezer Scrooge.

"It's pretty much just a party and everyone's invited," he said.
Commenting on Disney's lengthy rollout, which included a full screening of the animated dog-hero movie "Bolt," Carrey told out-of-town guests, "You can go back home and say these saddle sores came from Hollywood."

Since this is an upcoming Disney live action film that people might want to talk about this film as it's own creative work, this separate topic for this single film is here. :)

I don't particularly care for 3D movies. They seem to focus more on the effects than the story itself. Granted, they already have a pretty good story to work with.

Well...  You negotiate with theatres to install the technology, you gotta supply some product to project.  Like Abe Vigoda in "The Godfather", "It's just business." ;)

No official Disney movie promotional website yet, but a fan site for actor Jim Carrey has some news and a preliminary movie poster:

I liked the 3d movies.... the new technology is a lot better than the old stuff!

I was under the impression that by 3D, it was referring to the motion capture/digital effects, and not actually being a 4D movie? Being an actual 3D movie might hurt this, but I really hope not. I have well over a dozen versions of "A Christmas Carol" with no signs of stopping, and my stepfather-in-law love to annoy the rest of the family with repeated viewings of it :)

We're talkin' here "3-D glasses" to view it kind of thing.

The projection technology of "Disney Digital 3-D" is in limited number of theatres around the US, but Disney hopes theatres will get on the bandwagon and buy the projection equipment.  The first such movie was "Chicken Little" and has included "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds" and "Meet the Robinsons" movies, and many other titles.  Disney did a documentary with James Cameron about a dive to the Titanic, done in 3-D (needing the special glasses to view it) and that was very very very cool, not quite the Disney Digital 3-D going on nowadays, but still...

I've seen "Meet the Robinsons" in a theatre so equipped, and actually it was cool.

The thought of Jim Carrey as the Ghosts of Christmas past, but in digital 3-D to make the ghosts seem like they are involving the audience...  That would be a clever twist on yet another version of this familiar Christmas story and film genre.

Disney (and other studios, too) bringing back the idea of 3-D movies.  If theatre companies buy the projection equipment, there has to be film product for it.  And with that film product come higher admissions to see it, and curious audiences to check out the novelty of it.  With their wallets.   :dollar:

Oh I saw this play in 7th grade with my school. It was good. Nick Jonas used to be in it too! I don't know if he was in it when I was there. Probally not.

Ashley, I enjoyed the animated movie and the play twice. But after working it at least 12 times or more a year since 2000, I can't handle any more "A Christmas Carol" 3-D, 4-D or any other type.
