UPDATE from Rich... I've now started the next section of the Disney Echo Eyes and Ears Travel Blog here: Koster family July 2008 vacation at Disneyland so follow along as we add more there, including pictures starting Monday, July 28, 2008! You can read early (last-minute) planning for the trip on these pages, then go to the travel blog for more, especially once we're on vacation at Disneyland next week.

Click the above picture to start looking at our trip report. Once there, to go to each next picture, click the smaller title above and to the right of the large one... For example, the next page of our trip report is above and to the right of the large Koster family July 2008 vacation at Disneyland title, in smaller letters like this: WordPress for iPhone.
Try it now! Click here.
And now back to the original message from Carol which started this topic...
Once was not enough.....
We went for Easter, 2008 (March 22-29, 2008 ). Loved it. Amazingly didn't finish seeing both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure, though we saw a lot of Disneyland, went on side trips to Legoland, Walt Disney's gravesite at Forest Lawn in Glendale, the El Capitan movie theatre in Hollywood, and Walt's Train Barn in Griffith Park.
"Wall-E" came out June 27, 2008 and it was wonderful to see that movie! We'd seen "College Road Trip" at the El Capitan over Easter and the idea of seeing "Wall-E" there just occupied and occupied my mind. The "CRT" movie was "just OK" as a movie, but the projection and sound were state of the art, you definitely could hear and see a difference vs. your average suburban theatre, comfy, absolutely lovely theatre since it's also an historic landmark. I knew they were doing stage shows for "Wall-E" as a pre-show, this particular one themed to "Toy Story", and we've never experienced the El Capitan stage shows, or organist. Costs extra when you see movie+stage show, but people rave about the experience who've done it.
And I really really wanted to see "Wall-E" that way... Very super much. Any Disney blockbuster would do, but "Wall-E" is "here and now".
Where husband works has been sold. Seller-employer plans to grant some longer term employees two months severance, others employeed three eyars or less a lesser amount. RichKoster (my husband, Site Admin of Disney Echo) qualifies for the larger amount. So some money is coming our way soon.
And we got to thinking wouldn't it be great to take some time off before 12-year old son starts school the first week of August? And we never did finish seeing Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure, or do shopping, and I have a still-valid Disneyland Premium Annual Pass... And seeing the El Capitan Theater back in March was so wonderful, even if the Disney live action family movie at the time wasn't exactly, uh, Oscar material... And to see a high-quality blockbuster like "Wall-E" in such a great theatre and experience a truly best of the state of the art projection and sound in a Disney-owned movie theater.. Wouldn't that be great? Wouldn't it?
Rich looked at me like I was insane. He rolled his eyes. And he started number crunching. That's when he knew he was insane, too. Things were coming together, and we knew we were both crazy.
I thought (didn't pray it, just thought it ) in my Catholic Adoration Chapel hour today if Walt was "up there" if this trip was right and proper to send the Pixie Dust and find a way to make it happen, otherwise we'd accept it as a bad idea and then move on.
A couple of hours later we'd booked the air fare and Disneyland Hotel and park hopper tickets for Rich and son nd I (I already have DL Premium Annual Pass ) .
July is a blackout month due to AC Nielsen ratings sweeps where Rich works (Fox affiliate TV station in New Orleans) but somebody else was able to get a few days off near the end of that time, Rich put in for it too, and it got approved earlier this week.
So final week of July is when we're going. We are very nuts! We're going to see a movie there, and while there, might as well go back to Disneyland and finish up! Hugely nuts!
From the time we booked to the time we leave = 26 days. First time we've gone to Disneyland twice in the same year.
Pixie Dust koo-koo are we!
Thanks, Walt, for the Pixie Dust! We'll use it wisely, if you guide us in that, too.
Beach Boys Disney Girls Lyrics
Clearing skies and drying eyes Now I see your smile Darkness goes and softness shows A changing style
Just in time words that rhyme Well bless your soul Now I'll fill your hands With kisses and a Tootsie Roll
Oh reality, it's not for me And it makes me laugh Oh, fantasy world and Disney girls I'm coming back
Patti Page and summer days On old Cape Cod Happy times making wine In my garage Country shade and lemonade Guess I'm slowing down It's a turned back world With a local girl In a smaller town
Open cars and clearer stars That's what I've lacked But fantasy world and Disney girls I'm coming back
Love...Hi Rick and Dave Hi Pop...Well good morning mom Love...get up guess what I'm in love with a girl I found She's really swell Cause she likes Church, bingo chances and old time dances
All my life I spent the night With dreams of you And the warmth I missed And for the things I wished They're all coming true
I've got my love to give And a place to live Guess I'm gonna stay It'd be a peaceful life With a forever wife And a kid someday
Well, it's early nights And pillow fights And your soft laugh Fantasy world and Disney girls I'm coming back
