Question: In Your MouseControl Panel, what do all of the sections in the personal info section mean? How would I use a signature and what are the other things asked for in that section? Also, can you have more than one Disney Avatar? I read how to change your Disney EchoEars in the signature, but I would have to print that out to be able to remember all of that, otherwise I get lost in the directions, so how do you print them out?
Answer: First of all, to get to Your MouseControl Panel, look immediately above the yellow "Disney Echo forum" bar and just underneath where you'll see "> Welcome, (Your Log-in Name)." Click the underlined "Your MouseControl Panel" phrase and it will open in your web browser.
When you click the underlined "Personal Info" selection and then click "Edit Your Profile" you'll find things like AIM Name, ICQ No., Yahoo Name, and MSN Name. These are ways people could get in touch with your through instant messaging, if you have accounts set up for that purpose. Those things can be left blank.
At the very bottom of that page you are given the option to set your "Post Color" (the color of the text in your messages) to be something other than the default black text. If you change this from black, please pick a dark color so your messages will be readable against the light colored backgrounds that are here on the Disney Echo.
To set your favorite Disney Avatar, start at the main area of Your MouseControl Panel and then click on "Disney Avatar Options." The easiest thing to do is to select one of the pre-installed Disney Avatars from the scrollable list you'll find there. It is possible to enter a URL for a Disney Avatar that is on your own website, but that is best left alone if you're a novice. You can only use one Disney Avatar at a time. Whichever Disney Avatar you wind up choosing, it will be displayed to the left of your messages on the Disney Echo, right below your log-in name and real name.
After new Disney EchoEars write their first message here on the Disney Echo, I try to give them a "welcome gift" of a pair of "ears" for their signature. When you go to Your MouseControl Panel and then the "Personal Info" link followed by the "Edit Your Profile" link, scroll down and you'll see a listing for "Your Signature" where your current signature is displayed -- and below that is another listing for "Your Signature" with a text entry box. This is where you can enter what you'd like in your Disney Echo signature. A signature is a file that is automatically displayed under your messages on the Disney Echo and can contain a phrase or sentence of text, a graphic, a link to your website, etc. Signatures are optional, so if you don't want to bother with one just leave that section alone.
To change the Disney EchoEars (mouse ears) shown in your signature to a different type, go here to find the instructions. To print out those instructions, look immediately above the title bar of that message and you'll find "Print this topic" -- click that to display a printable view of those instructions, and then you need to click your web browser's printer button or choose File > Print from your web brower's menu options. The message will begin to be printed on your printer a short while after that.
