If you have a gift recipient you know loves Disney, or who will be heading soon to Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Adventures by Disney or a Disney Cruise Line cruise, or who wants to shop for Disney items at Disney Stores at malls or online at DisneyStore.com, then consider buying a Disney themed gift card for that recipient.

Also if you want to donate a prize for a raffle basket or gift cards gift board for an auction, make it all the more enticing for others to bid benefitting that worthy cause by putting a Disney gift card in it as your generous and Pixie Dusted donation incentive.

These websites might change over the course of time, but as of today's date here's what seems to be available.

You want to note designs, increments of how much money to load onto the cards, where they are accepted, any deadlines by which the cards must be used, and "shipping and handling" fees charged to you for ordering these online and having them sent to you or your recipient.  Note:  You can reload them at retail locations, but not online.  Seek all fine print, read carefully in advance, so you and your recipient will understand how it all works.  Note all restrictions!

Be sure to allow enough time for these to be processed and mailed to you or your recipient in time for a birthday, celebration, wedding, vacation trip, raffle basket or auction event or submission deadline for a charity you're donating to, etc.

If it shows specific WDW or Disneyland images, or generic Disney images or generic greetings, just be open-minded.

Generally these gift cards are good at Disneyland, WDW, the Disney-owned hotels and restaurants, Disney Stores, online at DisneyStore.com, at Disney Stores at shopping malls, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, etc.

These are NOT good at any non-Disney-owned place or store selling Disney merchandise.  So be clear on that point, too.  Again, carefully read the fine print!  Inform your recipient!

Different websites show different generic card designs so explore everything so you can pick a nice design you like best.

If you are a Chase Disney VISA credit card member, consider using accumulated points to pay for your gift card purchase.  Inquire at check out on the site whether you can do that.  If you use your Disney VISA card to pay for it, you do NOT get card member discounts on the gift card purchases.  However you do earn 1% Reward Points!  Go to Chase Disney VISA website, click on "View offers", explore around for Card Member benefits doing Disney online shopping, read their restrictions and guidelines regarding using your Reward Dollars points or Chase Disney VISA credit card to pay for Disney gift cards.

Don't be confused, some of these sites refer to being able to buy these gift cards online as "tickets", you are in fact buying a gift card.

Walt Disney World gift cards (but can be used anywhere as listed above) :

Go here to see selection, occasions, amounts from WDW site.

Disneyland:

Several nice, and generic, designs and amounts at Disneyland, here.

DisneyStore.com on-line sells a gift card good ONLY at DisneyStore.com, and two designs of gift cards good at Disneyland, WDW, Disney Cruise Line, any Disney owned restaurant or resort or shop at the parks, Adventures by Disney, and Disney Stores and DisneyStore.com (scroll down so you see which is which) :

DisneyStore.com gift cards.

OK, the Disneyland link doesn't work, try this one, they offer eight designs:

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyl....ferPage

The DisneyStore.com link doesn't work, either.  Go to:

http://www.disneystore.com/

In their "Search" window type in 'gift cards" without the quotes.  Scroll all the way down the page.

WDW link works and offers eight designs, too.

Disney Store.com offers a single design of DisneyStore.com-only gift card, and two designs of Disney gift cards good at the parks, online, Disney Store, Disney Cruise Line, etc.

Ongoing they might change designs.  Or maybe links et changed.  Just keep checking.

When in doubt:  Google Walt Disney World Gift Cards, Disneyland Gift Cards, and "search" on Disney Stores.com .

Of course, when you're in the parks anyway on vacation try to remember to plan ahead, and buy these gift cards while you're there for future gift giving or donating to raffle baskets or auction boards at a charity.  Plan ahead, you avoid shipping costs, too.

Look around.

Some are generic Disney or Disney-Pixar characters, including Mickey, Tinkerbell, Ratatouille.

Two show iconic Disneyland images of the Matterhorn at Disneyland and a bit of Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle but with a generic message "Magic 4 U " and an emoticon smiley of a : for the eyes and a ) for the smile.

Some are themed to birthdays, but could be for any occasion, too, since they are cheery or show more than just Mickey or show several Disney characters.

Some are generally cheery greetings, any occasion.

One is themed to "Happily Ever After", could fit for a wedding, anniversary, or engagement.

One is themed to success/congratulations for acheivement, show sports jerseys on the characters but could generally be for congratulations for acheivement.

One is themed to a person's first Disney theme park visit.

None seem Christmasy or New Years.

Look at all designs on all sites.  All are attractive and cute!  A total of about 18 designs between three websites.

The WDW website charges $5 standard shipping per overall order (means I ordered 4 gift cards just now, and will pay an additional single charge of $5 for shipping and handling fee).  I'll get those four gift cards in 14 days.

The Disneyland website offers eight designs.... and free shipping!  That's standard shipping!  I'll get those gift cards in 10 days, I ordered two.

DisneyStore.com offers a promotion right now of $5 shipping and handling for orders of $89 value or higher.

If you want to collect your cards at Will Call at the parks, mark that on the order page.

If you need the cards faster than standard shipping, of course you'll pay higher shipping and handling fees.  Check the forms on those sites carefully to find that information.

I ordered gift cards for my son's school's-our parish's annual festival.  Grade our son is in has been asked to supply "gift cards" to be attached to a board and people buy raffle tickets to bid on it.  I thought some Disney gift cards that are very cute looking might entice people to bid on that item all the more to raise money for the school and parish.  We live regionally close to Walt Disney World (New Orleans metro area) and a lot of families vacation there at WDW sooner or later. ;)

One of the gift cards at the WDW website is for "family reunion".

New!

A central place at Disney.go.com to shop for Disney gift cards online, Disney Gift Card.com !

http://www.disneygiftcard.com/home....09@0008

You can select by:  What character is on the card, the sex and age of the recipient, or occasion (birthday, wedding, Christmas, etc.).  They have some that show theme park castles!  They have some that have "classic" old-fashioned quaint Disney character designs or designs for seasons of the year such as winter/Christmas, celebrating a triumph, a first theme park visit, and others, including generically romantic designs.  Be sure to look at ALL categories and at the bottom of the vertical menu on the left of the home page, also look at "The Vault" for even more, different, designs and occasions!

The number and variety of choices just keeps going, and going, and going!  Web pages upon web pages of these!

You should be able to find a nice card for a recipient you have in mind among the literally dozens and dozens of choices.  The hard part is settling on just one design, so many are cute, or for certain occasions, or for the parks....  They all look great!

Explore around to see the choices and possibilities.

From this website:  Choose the gift card or cards that are right for you/your recipients.  Disney will also send you a paper greeting card so you can enclose your gift card/cards within it/them when you give it/them to your recipient/recipients.  Disney sends the cards to you.  You order it all from the website.  That's it!

DisneyStore.com sells a Mickey plush doll designed to hold a gift card, so you'd be gifting both the Disney Gift Card and the Mickey plush doll holding it for a total impact presentation.  Keep that idea in mind as you shop online.

There are also links earlier in this Topic, explore those as well.

Remember:  Look for if shipping is also tacked onto the cost of the card, some sites don't charge this shipping, some sites do.  I bought some Disneyland cards with generic Disney designs from the Disneyland tickets website (see above for links) just a couple months ago to donate to charities that were fundraising and I wasn't charged any shipping and handling!  So shop carefully if saving money this way is important to you.

Consider using as a charitable donation:  If you are asked to donate to a charity, non-profit fair or festival, auction, gift-basket fundraiser, and want to donate some Disney Pixie Dust that gets people's attention, consider donating a Disney-themed gift card.  These Disney gift cards do get attention, stand out as something cool and distinctive among other cards, and will attract bidders, donors, raffle basket chances, etc.  Your intent will be to add a Disney gift card to, say, a placard or basket that contains a collection of other gift cards and bidders bid on the basket or placard, or to super-load one up with generosity and people can place bids or buy raffle chances to obtain that card, and the bids/chances sold are what raises money for your charity or worthy cause.  Or you can create a Disney-themed gift basket with items that might include a Disney gift card, and people will bid/buy raffle chances on that and the proceeds raises money for your charity/worthy cause.  Just suggestions....

Also:  Keep checking the sites above as seasonal holidays come around:  Christmas-Hanukah, New Year's, Valentine's Day, Easter, US Patriotic holidays such as Memorial Day and Independence Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.  At the Disneyland Gift Card website they had a Halloween-themed card with a Mickey-head-shaped pumpkin with spiders webs!  If they are not offered right now, simply check back as holidays like that come up, they might be offered temporarily for only that season.  Just keep checking.

Generally: Disney gift cards are accepted at the Disney theme parks and Disney-owned hotels, stores and restaurants; Disney Stores in malls, DisneyStores.com online, Disney Cruise Line.  If Disney owns it, check if these are accepted.  Try also online places such as Disney Photo Pass online when you get back from any of the US Disney parks, to offset photo-related purchases.  If your recipient is Disney-bound or is likely to shop in Disney Stores in malls or DisneyStore.com or any other Disney-owned entity, the cards make a great versatile gift.

Just remind your recipients not to forget they have a stash of money on these cards, to not forget they have these cards!  They are sitting on top of good money if they forget!

Print a reminder of the cards' terms of use, any expiration dates, and places where the cards are accepted and provide that to your recipients.

Literally oodles and oodles and oodles and oodles of cards to choose from.  Just shopping from your computer, you'll have fun just browsing all the many choices!  Your recipient will love whatever he/she/they receive!

As holidays and life milestone gift giving or charitable auction opportunities arise through the year, write a reminder to check this website and the others earlier on in this Topic to see if a Disney gift card is the right type of gift or donation to present.
