Yoo Hoo and howdy, Disney EchoEars!

Herbie had a great idea which he asked me about in MickEmail -- and I thought was something we should do here on the Disney Echo:

We should collect two pictures of every campsite at Fort Wilderness and display them here on the Disney Echo, complete with a description! This will make it easier for campers to get an idea of which campsite they'd like to stay at during their Fort Wilderness vacation.

If anyone has pictures of their FtW sites they'd like to contribute, send me a private message. :coonskin:

Herbie has started things off with site 1334.

I love the idea of seeing different campsites.  This will help us so much.  Any tent pictures that aren't already online?  If I can figure out how to post them, I'll send in some of ours from this July.  We are getting so excited!  Planning is half the fun!!

My Webpage

Here's a small album of pictures from our recent (and first ever) FW stay.  We were at site #1314.

Patti

Update from Rich:

After a while, Patti's photos became unavailable at that link. I've contacted her to see if she can send me the photos and if she does I'll post them here.

This thread is a great idea.  It will help people who want to try camping at FW but have never see it be reassured how nice it is there.  Patti, I love your picture of the alligator....that was really at Animal Kingdom!  Hey, April Fool's Day 2005 can come sooner than anyone thinks, just set your calendar ahead by several months. ;)

   I couldn't resist, especially after recently reading the whole "Alligators at FW" postings.

From March 2004
I think this was site 1313….very close to comfort station, bus stop, park, basketball hoop.  There was plenty of room for our 30 foot TT and the awning… room to park the truck, and room to put up the screened tent – which we love to have over the picnic table.

A neighbor’s night light….beautiful!

In the site

The fellas chillin’ under the screened tent

Though you see the sign for site #119 in this picture, our site was really #121!  This was our first stay at FW.

You can see a lot of sky in this picture... this is due to the hurricanes.. the trees used to be more dense.  But is was still beautiful!

While we noticed that most of the sites are at an angle to the road for easy back in, ours was not.  And due to the one skinny tree, we could not open our awning all the way (but still enough that we could use it).  While we have these MINOR complanits about our site, we will absolutely request loop 100 again on our next trip.  We loved staying a Fort Wilderness!

Amy, I think we just missed you.  We've been here at FW for a couple of days...leaving on Tuesday.  Though we've taken pictures, I didn't think about taking a picture of the site yet...will try tomorrow.  If the rain is too bad to risk the digital camera, I'll use the waterproof disposable...still have a couple of shots left  :)

So, I guess if the rain catches us, I'll have to wait on film developing before I scan and post. LOL It's been a while since I took anything other than digital.
